Find a Mortgage

You're prepared to become a homeowner, now its time to find the right Mortgage. This can be done yourself or with the help of a mortgage broker. Judge your mortgage by these 4 criteria:

Choose your Loan Type

Settling on the right type of mortgage involves 2 main choices:

  1. Repayment option : either Principal and interest or Interest only
  2. Interest option : Fixed interest, Variable interest or Split [part Fixed, part variable]

Apart from the standard loan types above lenders provide a range of specialty products to consider:

Get Pre Approval

Apply for Pre Approval once you've chosen your mortgage. This lets you to know exactly what you can afford before beginning your house hunt, saving time and money.

  • You can organise the full application process 3 months before purchasing.
  • Once Pre-approved, the bank will give you a commitment in writing, stating that you have approval in principle subject to satisfactory valuation of your final choice.
  • When you find the right property, you'll be able to focus on the purchase-rather than having to sort out the finance at the same time.

Troubleshooting

Difficulty saving deposit

If you can't save a deposit to get a Mortgage or Home Loan, maybe your parents or a relative with a loan, or Home Loan guarantee.

Bad Credit History

If you have a bad credit history you'll generally find it difficult to get a traditional mortgage. You may need to consider a Non Conforming Home Loan.
